In remarkable creatures, “author Tracy Chevalier (Girl With A Pearl Earring, Deluxe Edition, The Lady and the Unicorn: A Novel) takes the reader into a time before the dinosaurs to the supposedly roam the land where the Bible and Aristotle were revered evidence that the key to the understanding of organizational life. But if, as in this case in this very readable story about Mary Anning, one of the first fossil hunters from the early 19th Century to be recognized, to his discoveries and his desire to be accepted and legalized by all societies of men geological time, someone is at the remains of an animal that gives any more? Does he think that the Almighty God spotted a mistake or maybe writing complete theory based on the age of the earth made and a growing demand more control? Chevalier cleverly combines a large extent on these issues on a smaller framed story about the trials and tribulations of friendship between two women in a very convincing work reminiscent in tone and readability of its best sellers about tôt.Quelques comments others have the use of Knight’s voice and sensibility projection of modern thinking and actions of the narrator’s main character, the old upper class, Elizabeth Philpot and working-class fossil hunter, Mary Anning criticized. In fact, as the beginning of the 21st Century readers, we have forgotten that as obvious as the idea of a country knowledge of the ancient dinosaurs roaming May in our CGI simulation by the media and the Internet bank of origin, the concept of the situation of women walking down a street without being accompanied without his reputation as a clear violation of foreign social rules. Knight did his best retail psychological frustration of women in its history by successfully cultivating their needs will be overcome in order to think less than their male counterparts in the fields of education and class. When thoughts of his characters a little more in 2010 as in 1810, this critical attitude shown understanding that it is followed by the deliberate and conclude a battle that still. His account of the inherent rivalry between the two women adequately describe an automatic mechanism of intrinsic female, whether colleagues or just each other for the attention of a man. The capacity achieved by Knight weaving these natural tendencies as a historical presentation, without the momentum of the plot gives the narrator, and that they hold us back each time to come, it provides a further insight into the contribution of a real historical figure of his time. In remarkable creatures, “Knight alternates his story, the idea of two women from different classes, which are a passion for fossils and shares finally reflect friends for life. Elizabeth Philpot, is rather cumbersome demanding personality with good humor captured, while achieving feisty persistence of Mary and the blessing of science logging fight, seems out of his class and his passion for psychology. Even with its status as a novelist, veteran Knight has a great job to change his voice to the nuances of the characteristics can describe every adventure femme.Chevalier Philpot Elizabeth’s London to defend her friend’s purse, with as much realism about the range of emotions that the person who can handle some of my own affairs than spending the early morning of the big world. Knight is more than enough detail to feel the tension, anxiety and guilt with pride that one feels when one out of the range, where they were among the fossil habitués.Au backdrop dotted with Lyme Regis and the introduction of mixed trips an entirely new kind of reflection on world history, chronicle the beginnings of the Chevalier of palaeontology Anning, this important scientific milestones with enthusiasm and naivete, coupled with the discovery of hard evidence that disputes accepted theory. At the same time, his story of friendship seems to understand the opportunity to paint human error, apparently without any artificial and wisdom, without moralisateur.Bottom line? Tracy Chevalier’s novel “strange creature” to characterize the most important fossil finds from the early 19th Century with a spectacular performance of the local customs and gender bias that the teeth every woman of the 21st Century would be placed on the bank. Mary Anning, was that those who went through a phase of rapid dinosaurs remember, the girl who (in 1811) to 12 years discovered the first plesiosaur and ichthyosaur, with many, many other fossils along the cliffs of Lyme Regis is, where she grew up. Tracy Chevalier remarkable creature tells the story of Mary, he expanded with fictional material as well as adding real data from most of the story surrounding him is (one of the most fascinating that Mary survived, having been struck by lightning). The novel is a story twin. Is part of the number seen Mary’s, while the rest of Elizabeth Philpot, a character in real life, who lives in Lyme Regis with his two sisters, also unmarried. Elizabeth is also an amateur fossil hunters, and it is this interest that initially meets the two women, despite her age and class differences, and then separating them, it brings together a plus.Chevalier excellent job with both characters. The voice of every woman is unique and the development of friendship over the years, a trip with rocks common passion, jealousy, envy and anger, which is the power balance between them is filled in a peaceful crucial that the reactions of two vary based on changes to their differences in age, class, education, and the expectations for the future. The same is true as well with their reactions and interactions with various men in her life, most are derived from historical figures: the aristocrat Lord Birch, Oxford geologist William Buckland, the French naturalist Cuvier, some of which are allies of Mary, certain enemies, and Mary all had a part of their reputation and their career. The male characters are strong enough, creations, though not so clearly drawn, and this is also true that many other women, the mother of Mary, the sister of Elizabeth. Physical descriptions in the book are vivid and precise and perfectly created the world fossils and fossil hunting rain or shine, in spring or summer, through the mud, seawater, involving the hard work for those who are serious, as opposed to Tourists who come to along the beach then go buy what Mary has found and sold in the family store. The same speed and precision extends to the science of history, clean and precise and presented on demand, instead of showing the search for the author or the paper is weak on the plot. The author’s enthusiasm for the subject shines through his personnages.En outside the subject of fossils, which I particularly liked and thought Knight does a good job is the way the book is on the eve of great changes in thinking about religion and philosophy and nature and set the humankind – as we see in just the right amount and manner, without restrictions. One of my favorite ways to show that it was talking about the differences and changes in language and jargon – like the characters, what they were, how they were étiquetés.Il is little to complain about remarkable creatures. The end was a bit rushed, especially with regard to changes in the character of the plot events. In addition, the book was almost perfectly pleasant. Highly recommended. Rating: 4 / 5

Ever since I read the book “Girl with a Pearl Earring,” I am a big fan of the author. The research she has everything she writes is perfect, but at the same time, is to do it, the characters and story can come alive through his style of the beautiful creatures écriture.Remarquables a fictional story about a real fossil hunter, Mary Anning . Historically, Mary Anning was born in a very poor family and curiosities to be found on the beach, Lyme Regis have been sold to tourists to feed his family. Mary had a rare gift for finding unusual objects, fossils, and usually at the age of 12, she has found one of the first complete ichthyosaur skeleton fossils. One of the most significant contributions of Mary Anning, with dinosaur fossils were evidence they gave to the theory of extinction. However, this book is a view of fiction (with lots of true facts is sewn) to the Life of Mary as a paleontologist woman who always despised by the men in her area because she was a woman, partly because of his humble beginnings. Perhaps the title of this book is inspired by the fossils that are found on the beaches of Lyme Regis. But the characters in the book are equally remarkable and amazing story féminine.Malheureusement about friendship, women in this story, from discrimination in a sexist society. In general, women who worked in the 1800s in Great Britain have a servant in the household than men are considered inferior in intelligence and any form of education, of course supérieur.Bien that has a lot of pressure on women to be married before the age of 25 or risk being called an old maid. Strange creatures gives a brief outline in the solitude of celibacy for Maria and three of his closest friends. Rating: 5 / 5

Remarkable creature is the “remarkable” History of Elizabeth Philpot and Mary Anning, two paleontologists women surveyed in 1810 and `20s Lyme Regis, England. There were two different women: one is a woman who moves the sea due to its status as the only (in the age of 25 who) made me laugh, and the other a young worker’s daughter, twenty years old, but by their love have united to fossiles.J in this book in one sitting – rolling, sitting on the back of a car through Pennsylvania, read four hours in space. I am glad that this is one of the books I brought on my trip was, it’s the kind of story that really draws the reader in. What I like the novels by Tracy Chevalier, as this is their past that it is so versatile. It is really known about them, research thoroughly. Paleontology is not my thing, but Tracy Chevalier, it is interesting to read for the layman. At a time when the theory of evolution (for want of a better term changes), it is a novel, the science against religion contrasts – because the theories that scientists early in the 19th Century, in direct contradiction to the teachings of the Church. And yet this book is not only about paleontology, or religion, is also the story of a lifelong friendship. Mary Anning and Elizabeth Philpot had almost nothing in common except a lasting interest in the fossils they found on the beach at Lyme Regis. The novel is alternately told from the perspective of the two main characters, and each has a unique voice (until the end of the habit, but lovable Mary’s verteberries called “vertebrae.”). Elizabeth’s obsession with her spinster status was a bit on the edge at a time, and I enjoyed reading the story from Mary’s point of view much better than Elizabeth. But, I loved history and historical context, which are both very engaging. Compared with another pound of Chevalier (Girl With A Pearl Earring, are Falling Angels and The Lady And The) Unicorn of my favorites, this book belongs there with his best. It is an enduring story about the unlikely friendship between two women, one of which is obviously tongue-twister “She sells shells on the beach inspired.” Rating: 5 / 5

Strange creature tells the story of two women – Mary Anning and Elizabeth Philpot – a love of fossils, which are excluded from both the rights of all academic, because they are women share. A rainbow of emotions flying between the two: jealousy, loyalty, friendship. And while the story itself lacks an interesting plot revolves around power and well-written novels of the last of the knights, the story is so finely tuned as ever – Knight has a gift for turning ordinary observations in a very conscious inner monologues. For example, begins a very beautiful text as a meditation on the night sky, but turns into a voice of Mary Anning’s, tinged with doubt: “I had [] started to feel it was a common thread between the Earth and [star] . Another issue was to Strung Out, taking the past into the future with the Ichie at one end, dying so long ago and waited until I find. I do not know what has caused the other end … my life Up to this moment … “The author gives a nice twist that one of the ways in which this remarkable novel active. Sections of the book explains the science of fossils is education, but sometimes dry, and the book seems to small compared to earlier books Chevalier. Ultimately, however, strange creatures, an intimate history, worthwhile read, especially with fine selection of the writer of the landscape: beaches of the English coast, Moody’s give atmosphere to an otherwise normal history.
