Managed to read a chapter with great difficulty. The name of the second chapter begins with the S-word. If anyone has used such words to express an idea, you can assess how the expression of the author a. This is ideal for children (with the S-word censored:). More serious writer should read “How to Write: Advice and Reflections” by Richard Rhodes. Rating: 5.1
Its publisher was right the first time it has nothing to say. This book is like an insult to writers aspiriting Turing advice. She did not give. Holding his hand on his chest all really on the way to be published, she believes can escape instead of advice about life in general. Title is large, so the title is great (her brother was crushed by a report on birds, and says the father, Bird by Bird), but that is where the depth stops. Too bad, because there to help so many people with a sincere wish and become a writer, but this is not her, nor she. Rating: 5.2
I am pleased to declare at a loss, the enthusiastic reviews of this book. Although Bird by Bird contains good advice to write, I found the author very uncomfortable. Egocentric, selfish, neurotic – I, if it as an example of how not to, take life, does the idea. Personally, I do not think see how it could be regarded as a model (of cocaine and God? Well, it is for you …). Northern California A useful book would contain at least some advice for us poor souls who write otherwise fit for work (and work), but still want to. It seems to assume that everyone reading his book the whole day free to write to make (or vinegar, or a “shopping therapy”). Finally, as a personal note Lamott to the authors – Dr., it s call it “shopping, not shopping. Get Over Yourself. And for the love of your son, stop drugs. Rating: 5.1
I found this book very depressing. Anne Lamott constant self-mockery by the book really made me doubt myself, so good. I know she did, to show she is human like the rest of us, but I think it can be shown that without hating on themselves to every opportunity (ie, version 9-year-old wife as a neurotic cat, etc.), regardless of what it is about how you should not do that says. It’s like hanging with a group of anorexic models, it is to you. This is not a good book for people who do not know they are writers. I’m no writer, but I am interested in writing and I am eager to write fiction, but I’m having trouble writing authentic. Lamott sends the message that “As long as you are a writer, as long as you will be our little secret club, everything will be fine!” Rating: 5.2
I was tricked into buying this swarm through all the critics. Not only ugly, but the material I have gotten so with the author as a person I could not bear not disgusted to read a word. It is a pathetic person and I can not imagine who wrote to read a word she wants. It is a book about his sad life more than to write. Rating: 5.1
